Is AntiVirus 2009 safe to run ??

My internet closed & popped up with something saying that I may be at risk against all these viruses etc. I did a scan on the AntiVirus 2009 website & it found many viruses. Then it came up to run it but it then said stopped working. Is this safe? What can I download thats free that will clean my computer & protect me from viruses etc????

No don't its a Rogue Spyware Program that infects your computer and cons you into purchasing their software claiming infections found

    Here’s how to remove it

(Run this first and if fails run Smit Fraud Fix)

Malwarebytes Anti Malware http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/... FREE EDITION (one of the free AV to Remove Antivirus 2009)

Smit Fraud Fix http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php Removal Tool

Also, turn off System Restore to evict any copies of bad stuff that might be lurking there.

May not be required (Depending on severity & if so DO NOT) Once removed do so!

Malware Bytes is from download.com is respected and #1 in downloads and all software is tested for malware daily!

Antivirus 2009 is an unwanted program, from the authors of Antivirus 2008. These applications have resembling interface and "features". After stealth installation, Antivirus 2009 will show tonns of fake spyware\adware detection messages and offers to remove reported threats (after you purchase commercial version). But in real Antivirus 2009 is not a spyware cleaner, it's just an imitation of spyware remover. Antivirus 2009 can also slow your computer and cause system errors and crashes. Remove Antivirus 2009 using manual removal instructions (for advanced users) or removal tool.

    ---------

    use manual removal guide

Antivirus 2009 is a rogue antispyware program that is a deadly virus. It uses "scareware" to attempt to frighten you into purchasing the program. Once installed it will simply make your computer more infected and put all your private information at risk.

Fortunately with the right program you can remove Antivirus 2009 pretty quickly. You need a top flight antispyware program that can perform deep registry scans. I have personally used a program that removes Antivirus 2009 easily. You can scan your computer for free at http://www.spyware-fix.net

    Good luck!

NO it is not safe, it is a fake program that will find non-existent problems in a bid to get users to purchase the fake software.

Use the following free programs, download, install, update and reboot into Safe Mode to remove:

    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:

    http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/...

    Select Full Scan.

Remove all infections that it finds after scan.

    SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition:

    http://www.download.com/SUPERAntiSpyware-Free-Edit...

Select Scan your Computer, select your drive and select Perform Complete Scan and remove infections, then click on Preferences, click Repairs Tab and click on any of the System and Browser Repair Items that you may have problems with then click Perform Repair.

Use BOTH for maximum effect as they work slightly differently.

antivirus 2009 just like antivirus 2008 it's a FAKE! rogue malicious program that lies to people telling them they are infected when they are not you should have never messed with this bastard.

Go into safe mode with networking and download MALWAREBYTES and run a scan. to go into safe mode with networking> restart computer and tap F8 on keyboard a few times when the boot up screen first appears. when you get to the safe mode screen use the arrows on your key board to direct you to safe mode with networking then click ENTER.

You can all so try doing this. on your keyboard>push Ctrl Alt and Delete together.

this will bring you to Task manager. When you get to task manager look for>process tab and application tab. See if antivirus 2009 or AV 2009 is running if it is >highlight it and click > END PROCESS.

then go look for either AV 2009 or antivirus 2009 files and delete them.

That was a virus, you didn't download and install anything did you? The site tricks you into thinking you have a virus problem, then offers you an "anti-virus" which is nothing but malware. Go to download.com and browse the anti-viruses there. If your running Windows YOU WILL NEED ANTI VIRUS, LRN IT AND USE IT.

never trust those things...and keep away from them...i had one that installed itself without asking..i just looked at my desktop and there was a new icon and i kept getting these messages from it saying viruses have been found and i got messages from norton saying norton has attempted to block something.

you can do a free scan from symantec (IT WILL PROVIDE A GOOD SCAN BUT WILL NOT REMOVE ANYTHING, BUT U CAN FIND A FREEWARE TO DO THAT IF U EVEN HAVE A VIRUS)
