car electrical help please... ?

ok so i put a system in my car its 1200 watts all together Ive noticed that every time it hits my lights dim....i have a 1997 Chevy lumina 3.1 with a 105 volt alternator (i think) it that the alternator isn't strong enough or is it the battery or is it something way different

    The combo of ur system and ur normal car electrical devices are drawing too much current ur alternator is not strong enough to handle it all

    If 1200 watts is the real power consumptions it's 1200 watt : 12 Volt = 100 Amp. It's very big Amp consumption.

    Maybe you mean 1200 watts Power Output of your Sound System (?)

    So you must understand that 1200 watts power output is not the power consumption.

    But if you have problem (lights dim..),

    First : Check/service Alternator (have you service since 1997 ?)

    There's no Alternator with 105 volt !

    Second : Check Battery conditions (life time 2~3 years).

    If the space is enough, replace with 100 ~ 120 Ah (Ampere Hour).

    At least 80 Ah.
