Leukocytosis: all leukocytosis is, is a raised white blood cell count. It often is caused by an illness, disease or infection. White blood cells are part of the body's immune system, and they multiply to fight off the attacking germs.
Risks? There are some studies showing that leukocytosis can contribute directly to poor outcome in ischemic cardiovascular disease
Leukopenia: is a decrease in the number of circulating white blood cells. It can be cause by aplastic anemia, chemotherapy and radiation. The risk of this is being at risk for other infections. Even minor infections, such as a cold can be life threatening if you do not have the ability to fight them off.
Leukemia: Some suspected causes are a certain kinds of chemicals, some viruses and genetic predisposition.
