Recommendation on these books??(long list!!)?

I have to pick one from the first list to study in extreme detail and then three from the second list to study in slightly less detail and be able to compare them to my first book under the headings of

    STEINBECK, John The Grapes of Wrath - I wasn't too sure about this one, I like it in some ways, but in others I don't.

    Sorry I couldn't help you that much, I've not read many books from that list :'(

    Anyway I think you should choose Wuthering Heights, althought that's probably rather biased seeing as I love it so much :)

    The Grapes of Wrath and Hard Times would present comparisons and contrasts that could work well. Both are novels about the poor Steinbeck and Dickens could be compared very effectively.
