Simple. This is a government BY the people. YOUR (and me, and each citizen) has the obligation to keep informed, to vote, and to let our representatives know what we think. We also have an obligation, when it's necessary, to defend our country.
But--it does not stop there. Yu, and all of us, should--to the extent we have the time and resources--participate. That can be by attending pubic hearings, working in an organization trying to achieve a goal we believe in, volunteering forthe campaign of a candidate we think will be a god public servant.
But--most important. Treat our fellow human beings fairly. Hatred, bigotry, etc. have no place in America. Freedom does not mean just political rights. It means everyone gets a fair chance to live a good life. Not to be guaranteed one--but have the opportunities. Those amog us who claim they "don't owe anyone anything" because they suppsedly "made it on their own" are not good citizens. They are merely parasites--no matter how much money they make. The price of freedom is to realize they--or I--or yu--had those opportunities because others paid the price -sometimes with their lives--to give us our freedom. We all have an obligation to give something back to keep that freedom.
