I found a snake in my house...?
I live in Northern MD, I found a baby snake in my house that has kind of the same patterns as my ball python. I have googled images and websites and can't find this snake anywhere. I can also say that it was aggressive because it was trying to bite my shoe when I was trying to hold it still...
Any GOOD websites or help would be GREAT!
***Help identifying it please...***

Here's a list I compiled of snakes that loosely might resemble a ball python's pattern (or as close as it gets in the U.S.)....also trying to take your locality in mind.

It isn't a cottonmouth, the markings are wrong. I can't be sure from the photo but my first thought was gopher snake. What I would do in your place is call the agricultural extension for your county and ask them for help in caring for the snake until it's warm enough to release it. My guess would be into the 70s F. but the agricultural extension can tell you accurately and should have an interest in letting you know what is best for the snake. It sounds like it found the right person to hole up with. :)

i like the first few
taking a old fashion cotton (i guess) laundry bag or potato bag i think
and then go up to the sanke wearing thick gardening gloves
and long sleves and jeans or thick pants (snow pants)
wear a heavy jacket that is very thick
and shoes not gym shoes or opentoes
i mean like snow boots or hiking boots
u will look and feel rediculous but u will go up 2 da snake and put it in the bag and tie it at the top
have someone watch the bag
get out of clothes
then drive away
i mean a few miles
and open the car door
take the bag and open it and hop in the car and quickly drive away
do this in a field
hope this works

Find a number or an address for "Sonoran Wildlife Desert Museum". They are in Tucson, Az. They can be contacted online. They will probably be able to assist you with identification.
I belong to a couple of different yahoo groups.
Check out yahoogroups.com
Find a snake group. They can answer any questions you may have.
EmeraldSource(s): I have had contact with both sources that I cited above.
