All a fraction is, is a division problem So for 28/3, you divide 3 into 28. 3 goes into 28 9 times with 1 left over, so 28/3= 9 1/3 And 61/9 is the same thing. If you know your 9 times tables, you know that 9*6 is 54, and 61-54 is 7, so 61/9=6 and 7/9.

For the first one which is 28/3 you first have to figure out how many times 3 goes into 28 and that is 9 times. There is one left over. so it becomes 9 and 1/28.

For the second problem which is 61/9, 9 goes into 61. That is 6 with 7 left over. The answer than is 6 and 7/61.
