They're not Metal. They're Nu-Metal, well Hybrid Theory and Meteora is more Nu-Metal, their latest album is more Alternative/Rock. They kinda lost the Nu-Metal and Rap on Minutes to Midnight.

Linkin Park is a fickle alternative band that cannot decide what it wants to be. Over the years and the course of its albums, the band has experimented with rap, metal, and rock, blending all into a mixture that has earned them praise from Rolling Stone (for song "Breaking the Habit" which the magazine called "risky beautiful art") and other magazines, and contempt from disgruntled listeners and critics.

According to Wikipedia, it is a "American rock band," tagged in the genres of "Alternative Rock," "Nu Metal," "Rap Rock," and "Alternative Metal," that also contains traces and borrows elements of "Hip-Hop" and "Electronica."

All of this taken into consideration, no, Linkin Park is not a metal band. It is not a band exclusive to any one genre. If it were, we might like it less.

I guess they'd be hard rock now.

On Meteora and Hybrid Theory were heavier and were more nu-metalish. They were also better back then, too (in my opinion)
