Would a heating element help my dryer? ?

I have a used Kenmore dryer, about 10 yrs old. I got it a couple of months ago from a friend. It takes about 3 hrs or more to dry a load of laundry, especially when towels are in there. I got it a couple of months ago from a friend. It takes about 3 hrs or more to dry a load of laundry, especially when towels are in there. I was looking at dryers on craigslist when I saw that someone was selling a heating element. A metal thing with some coils or something on it and I was wondering if that would work. Could it be that my dryer isn't hot enough? It feels hot and the clothes are warm when I take them out. But I don't want to buy a new dryer if I don't have to. Thanks!
