Are there beaches in New Orleans with White sand and clear water?

My girlfriend has never seen the ocean and she also wants to visit New Orleans one day. I want to take her somewhere special to propose, can i get two birds with one stone in New Orleans, or should i just go to Miami for clear waters and white sand?

    no

closest is Dauphin Island Alabama with not so clear water.

then comes Gulf Shores or keep driving to Florida.

    try Destin

Nope, no white sands and clear waters in New Orleans.

N.O. has land that faces Lake Pontchartrain, The Gulf of Mexico and the Mississippi River (not to mention other canals, bayous, etc) but none offer any sort of beach like you would be looking for.

Best bet would be to travel further down the coast ...Alabama has some nice beaches and definitely once you get into parts of Florida.

Best of luck with everything :)

New Orleans is not on the ocean so you wont find ocean and white sand beaches but it offers a lot and you can always do a few days then drive to the ocean about 4 hours away to nice white sand beaches.

no beaches here.. tho the beach is nice.. there is no place like New Orleans.. especially for a proposal. .. theres only so much you can do at the beach.

.. Dress her up. Take her to a nice dinner with a live jazz or blues band. Theres restaurants all over the Quarter ..so you will have no prob finding a place. Then take a stroll down the Mississippi River to Cafe Du Monde for some Coffee and beignets. Then take her on a romantic horse and carriage ride .. to propose.

    OR

You can take her on a 2 hour steam boat ride down the Mississippi .. with dinner and music included.. called *dinner jazz cruise* then take her on a horse and carriage ride.. i've never been on the dinner/jazz cruise .. but sounds good =) (this is all in the French Quarter .. all a short walking distance)

Pensacola has beautiful white sand beach and an awesome tourist, fun area. It is a short drive down the coast. You might as well do it.

No. It isn't on the ocean. Stick with Florida. New Orleans is great fun and has amazing culture - but not known for it's beaches.

No beaches in New Orleans. Louisiana beaches are Grand Isle area.

For white sand and clean water - go to Alabama's Dauphin Island or Florida's Destin area.
