Nursing: In what situations would hypertonic and hypotonic solutions be prescribed to a patient?

I know what they are i just need to know rationale for use

    you would use hypertonic solutions if a person was experiencing third spacing of fluids or hypovolemia as in dehydration...hypotonic solutions would be used if infusion was necessary in the case of hypervolemia or some cases of hypertension or icp ...the high osmolar condition of the hypertonic solution draws more liquid to it, K

    Hypo maybe if they have high blood pressure, hyper for someone who is retaining water...just a guess.
