Which religions believe Jesus didn't die on the cross, that a substitute was used?
I can think of one! That religion is the Muslims. Now, Matthew 27:50 says, "Jesus shouted again with a loud voice and gave up His spirit." The Muslims do not believe Jesus actually died on the cross. Rather they theorize that a substitute died in His place (Sura 4:156-158). But the gospel is unanimous in attesting that Jesus Himself hung on the cross and expired.

How sad that evey lie imaginable has been
told by satan and all the evil people.
Makes one have to stop and wonder why
just one man ( according to them, that is all he was )
could cause such a fuss, a being who only
spoke of love and forgiveness, and whos words
have been twisted by people who are not saved and
dont understand.. Like killing children,,, now some idiot
wrote on here that is what Jesus would do, but they
didnt understand that Jezebel was a spirit at the time
it was written (book of revelation) and Jesus was speaking
of killing false religions and evil, not real children. I mean
I have read the most ignorant stuff since being here,
I only come back to see what could top the last stupid
remark. I wonder how many poor souls actually believe
that???? SAD

Harold Leidner is wrong. Just ask Seutonius, Josephus and several other first century Jewish and Roman writers. Pontius Pilate definitively existed, as did all the rulers that the Bible mentions put them in their exact chronological place. For a man that never existed it is kind of embarrassing to think of BC and BCE and AD. Anno Domino - the year of our lord. BC meaning before Christ BCE before the common era. Jesus was in fact born in spring 4-6 BC during the reign of Herod the Great, who REALLY did exist according to all scholars. Augustus Ceasar, and the Roman census REALLY did exist, during the time of Quirinius, who also REALLY existed. I've read way too many books on Roman history to swallow that bilgewater

The "gospel" may say that Jesus died on a cross, but there is no historical evidence that supports Jesus' existence. Jesus is simply a fictional character in a book of fictional short stories. Nothing more.

''Whether Jesus ever actually existed has long been debated. The argument (very well documented) is that there is absolutely no corroborating evidence of his existence in documents other than highly suspect Christian sources." - Riane Eisler, "The Chalice & the Blade," p. 122

"The gospel story is an artificial, non-historical work. It has been fabricated from source materials that can be identified and traced to their incorporation in the gospels. There is not a particle of hard evidence that 'Jesus of Nazareth' ever existed." - Harold Leidner, "The Fabrication of the Christ Myth"

Considering that the gospels were (a) copied from the same two sources, and (b) selected in the council of Nicea 300 years later specifically so they would match, the fact that they're unanimous about anything proves nothing.

But there are thousand that have no believe in Jesus or the Abrahamic god at all. Simply for the majority of religions Jesus, God and Allah, have absolutely no meaning at all.
