i)

The maximum error of the thickness of a piece of paper,

=(1 ÷ 2)mm

= 0.5mm

∴The maximum error of the thickness of a piece of paper is 0.5mm.

ii)

The thickness of each piece of paper,

=(58 ÷ 500) mm

=0.116 mm

∴The thickness of each piece of paper is 0.116 mm.

The % error,

=0.5/0.116 × 100%

=4.3%,cor. to the nearest 0.1%

2.
