Since William Ayers was honorable enough to become Chicago's 1997 Citizen of the Year, what's the issue?

With millions of good people from whom to choose, Chicago saw fit to make William Ayers its "Citizen of the Year" in 1997. Answer: it... show more With millions of good people from whom to choose, Chicago saw fit to make William Ayers its "Citizen of the Year" in 1997. That was clearly a different, more mature person from the one who was protesting the Vietnam War in the '60s, was it not? Why then does it matter how well Barack Obama knew the guy? Answer: it doesn't. (And desperation by the McCain campaign in bringing it up again is driving their poll numbers lower by the day. Thoughtful people don't fall for that kind of crap.)
