Plants, animals, fungi, protist and bacteria are all biotic or living factors

Abiotic, meaning not alive, are nonliving factors that affect living organisms. Environmental factors such habitat (pond, lake, ocean, desert, mountain) or weather such as temperature, cloud cover, rain, snow, hurricanes, etc. are abiotic factors.

In a forest, abiotic factors include the non-living factors of lighting, water flow (rivers, lakes), amount of shelter (caves, roosts), and temperature. Biotic factors include the living factors of other animals (prey and predator), parasites, competition between members of the same species, and relations between different species (symbiotic, mutualistic).

Abiotic factors are all the nonliving, chemical, and physical; rocks, soil, pH, rain, and temperature.

Biotic factors are the opposite, the living stuff; animals, plants, and bacteria.
