英詩Spring當中的”Palm and May”翻譯為何?

英國詩人湯瑪斯•納許（Thomas Nash 1567-1601）所寫的一首膾炙人口的名詩《春》（Spring）中的一句詩文，The Palm and May make country houses gay.當中的"Palm and May"到底該如何翻譯??網路上有查過一位教授的意見..應該是"成對詞"的運用,這種說法對嗎??

你所引用那句 Thomas Nash 的名詩 “ Spring ”的原文應是：

The palm and may make country houses gay.

palm 指的是棕櫚樹，may ( 不用大寫M）指的是 山楂花，就是我們一般說的 mayflower（五月花）。

“ The palm and may make country houses gay.”

翻譯如下：

“ 棕櫚和山楂花讓村舍生意盎然。”
