Wouldn't shutting down the Fed Govt. for a few years be better than them taking $700 billion from us?

I mean when the US Govt. has an 11% approval rating aren't they just doing more harm than good? And the money that will be saved by suspending the US Federal Govt. for a few years (except the military) would quickly pay for the bail out w/o taxing US citizens and since US citizens wouldn't have to pay federal taxes (just state & local) that would fire up the economy.

    Here is a novel idea...

    Take the $700 billion and split it evenly between the approximately 200 million Americans who paid taxes last year. Make them pay taxes on the money, at the appropriate rate, about 40%. And penalize those with heavier taxes anyone who did not pay off ALL of their debt.

    This would do two things.

    First the government would receive an infusion of $280 billion dollars that would go directly to repairing the infrastructure.

    Second all the bad debt that is hurting our economy would go away.

    Problem solved

    There is nothing pragmatic about collapse, or inevitable, Mr. Hoover. The Republicans scuttled an important bipartisan effort to save the U.S. economy. Throw out EVERY Republican in November!

    @BOKO:

    Throw out every republican? I think we should throw out everyone who affiliates with a party.

    Politics isn't sports, there shouldn't be "teams" or "parties", it should just be people.

    Source(s): My two cents.
