Yes, in a desperate situation we created them for the first time and it probably saved millions of lives as the Japanese were about to fight to the last man. Perhaps we have the wisdom- do you? We could have won the war in Vietnam in two shakes. I certainly don't want any pissant regime having such power- particularly an Ahmedinejad nut sack or for that matter any Muslim maniacle regime. This is no excuse for our current regimes' bad behavior- I hate those scum bags.

Since WWII, actually for years before that, the US has thrown its weight around in the world. We have used our military about 100 times since WWII. We have intervened in the political affairs of other countries, we have helped quash revolutions we didn't like and have supported those we did like. We have been the biggest arms dealers in the world. We have cooperated with some of the worst despots and tyrants in the world, supplied them arms and training to keep their own people subdued.

We call this 'exporting democracy' but you would not be able to point out one new democracy we've created anywhere in the world in all this time.

We have come up with many different justifications and pretexts for this imperialism. Usually we invent fake threats which our CIA, our presidents, and in turn our media exaggerate incredibly. One of these is another country trying to get nuclear weapons. President Bush began his campaign to invade Iraq by saying that Saddam Hussein had nuclear weapons, and when that was disproven he said Saddam was -working- on nuclear weapons, both of which he knew to be false.

Meanwhile we have managed to deal with the USSR, China and North Korea attaining nuclear weapons. And the way we treat them made every other nation want nukes just to be free of US intervention and meddling.

Iran is only trying to make fuel for the nuclear reactors WE SOLD THEM! If Iran really wants nukes, there is really nothing we can do. Bush wants to talk tough, to rattle the saber, and to blame Iran for his own failure in Iraq. In the end all we can do is negotiate with them, and apparently that's what we're doing now.

Too late, and not so fast. More countries acquired nuclear weapons since in the 70's, and the US has no control of stopping other countries pursuing their dreams to do the same. The IAEA is just there to make the US feel good about their security, but in reality no country ever displays or talks about their nuclear developments.

Fear ! Nuclear weapons are probably the worst invention man has made ! Weapons of any kind do nothing but cause harm and human destruction.
