If you are a musician on MySpace, can you sing an artist song and upload it to your myspace, etc?

To be honest, im not 100% sure, but ive had a Cold cover on my music page forever and no one has said a thing. Im sure it would be advisable to give the band you cover credit for the orginal song.

A friend of mine made his own myspace music page and just put artists songs up in the player. I've seen another person do the same thing. Nothing happened so it should be ok since you're doing an actual cover, instead of stealing someone else's original work.
