because they trigger our imagination, they show us the world which is going to be and the life which the ppl will lead in the future

some are classics
like star wars
everyone who grew up with Star Wars probably wanted to go see it in theatres when a new one came out
Star Trek is usualy the same.

because they have fancy special effects that little kids like.
if a movie is made for kids that means a parent usually accompanies them,even if they dont like it, so double money.
