according to Dr. Joshua Lederberg- "The single biggest human treat to man's dominance on the planet is the virus" . is this true and what does this mean?

Viruses evolve quickly, have the ability to insert themselves into our genomes, and we have very little defense against them!

We humans certainly have defenses against a virus, but it is the ability of a virus to mutate quickly that is the real danger.

we have no line of defence against the virus. If we get a global pandemic what with air travel etc. many would drop like flies.
