do you build muscle running?

i know its cardio so it burns calories, but does it build muscle? if so, you're burning calories after you run also, just doing nothing. i was just wondering. thanks!

    No. Look at a distance runner's legs...

    It builds leg muscles, back muscles etc. But no you're not going to get a lot of upper body strength running.

    it is a great ab workout, and it definitely builds leg muscles if you run for fairly long distances every day.

    It depends. My legs definitely got bigger from running, but a friend of mine's legs stayed skinny as all hell, so i guess it depends on the person. And as far as upper body, apart from the abs, it won't help much.

    i don't think so you have to do weight training to build muscle running builds very little
