The words "secular" and "muslim" are oxymorons. ( two words put next to eacother with opposite meanings, eg: deafening silence)

    ***************************************************************

    The word 'SECULAR' (adjective):

not bound by monastic vows or rules ; specifically : of, relating to, or forming clergy "not belonging to a religious order" or congregation

A secular Muslim is not a Muslim who has abandoned their religion. Rather, it is a Muslim who wants to create a secular government, and not one ruled by Islamic law. By this estimation, most Muslims in Kosovo are secular, as are most in Tunisia and Turkey, for example. In the same way, you could consider most Christians in the United States to be secular Christians, in that they're not looking to form a Christian theocracy.

secular is some with respect all religion equally or who rejects all religion equally. In either case a muslim can't be secular.

How can a muslim respect belief of trinity and shirk.

A muslim nation can be a democracy...specially if we are talking about sunni muslims coz we can vote for leaders.Still, it doesnt mean that the life style would encourage others than islamic values. Is strange people in UK critizicing islam when here there is a Queen and the chamber of lords hold a lot of bishops and archbishops... I have always wonder how the rest of religions are then represented in the british system

I believe this question should have been stated as "Can moslems live in and abide by the laws of a secular society in the way that christians and jews do in countries like the united states or the uk?" Or, rather, could they ever believe in separation of church and state? I am curious about the answer to a question like this.

There is no secularism in religion. You either submit to God's will, or ridicule yourself by saying 'I believe in God' and act with ignorance.

So basically, none of us Muslims is secular.

    There r hypocrites, though.

One who separates his religious life and beliefs from the government he lives under. Almost impossible in Islamic countries with a few exceptions like Turkey and Jordon.

There is no such this as a 'Secular Muslim"

Secular people reject all the laws made by Allah and follow some man made laws, therefore they are Non-Muslims.

    -------------

    Agree with Maryam.

And for everyones information, Turkey is not a Muslim country. Not even 1% people over ther practice Islam, just because someone has a Muslim name or they were born in a Muslim family doesnt make them Muslims.

BS.Turkey is 99% muslim. So anything else you say is wasted
