I speak from the situation you call "horrible and heart breaking". Our disagreement begins with saying the life of an unwanted child (assumed it is ''unwanted') is worth less than that of a person with a debilitating disease or condition. I for one would rather give the child a chance at life, knowing the odds are the child will have a healthy life and my life has already and certainly been affected. Research takes many many years to come to fruition, and only when the profits are high enough does it ever become approved. There are other, less radical approaches and cures for these conditions, and stem cell research looks promising in that cells from an actual embryo will not be required for stem cell research. Life is too precious to be slain before birth, and yes, it is a life before birth. Myself, I prefer to give the unborn the chance at the kind of life I will no longer have.
