# Why is there a 12 in the equation for Uniform Probability Variance?

I am unsure of why there is a 12 (and it always works) in the equation for variance in uniform probability problems!

The formula i'm referring to is:

Variance = sigma squared= ((b-a)^2)/12

The formula i'm referring to is:

Variance = sigma squared= ((b-a)^2)/12
