Did the Dems in Congress purposely ignore the economy and take a long vacation as an election ploy?

It's even better -- The Dems in congress were warned about Freddie mac and fannie mae by both John McCain and GW Bush, and at least 5 years ago, but Barney frank and friends ignored the issue.

Now we have Barney Frank not taking credit for his failure to oversee the two Federal mortgage buyers, and the democrat program called the Community Development Act pushed by Carter and Clinton that forces banks to make stupid loans, or be accused of racism.

But here we have Obama who as a community agitator being a legal representative of a group in Chicago who was forcing these loans in neighborhoods based on race, but not based on ability to repay, and most recently, Chris Dodd who is also chairman of the Senate Banking Committee -- he gets the job, then leaves, moves his family and starts running for President.

Is it any wonder that Democrats have bankrupted not only the economy, but the fabric of our social society with all their social experiments, promotion of gay marriage, promoting class warfare, promoting multi-culturalism, promoting anti-business sentiment, hate for America, etc. etc.

Democrats have helped drag this country directly toward socialism, and unfortunately, if Obama gets elected, we are one, or maybe several steps closer to another France, or other socialist country, perhaps even Cuba. I think Michael Moore will be happy if the uSA starts looking like Cuba.

Oh, they didn't have much looting in Cuba after the hurricaines. Any idea why not? Because Cuba looked the same BEFORE the hurricaine, and nobody has anything worth stealing anyway.

YES. Liberalism is a mental disorder. The democrats have trashed the country and the economy in order to make things as bad as possible on "Bush's Watch." They think that the more disgusted people are with the current state of things, the more likely they are to elect Obama because he represents the opposing party. Do not fall for it. Turning liberal policies loose on our economy, our military, and our Christian - faith - based social structure will destroy this country.

Yes, it's beginning to look like that is exactly what has happened. The economy was doing just fine until the democrats got control of the house and senate. And it gone downhill from there.

Now how many years in a row were Republicans in charge of Congress?

When did we go broke? Who promoted and passed the laws that were put in place to protect us from another Great Depression? (P.S. they repealed ALL of them)

Until you can answer these Qs. -with the facts - I would put off judging.

I am fully aware as someone (that always stays informed) about our government that there are a lot of rats in the Democratic Congress - known as the Blue dogs...(DLC dems) who sold us down the river for corporate donations. Gonna support all of their opponents after this election be they GOP or Dem.

Are you kidding? The Dems have tried to put forth policies in the last 2 years that would have helped with this mess and were stopped at every turn, often by Bush himself. The Dems DO NOT have control of the Senate - you must have 60 votes to get anything done (unless the President wants it) and they have 51 or 52 (if you could sleazy Joe and I wouldn't). People need to learn how our Congress works and understand that this meltdown was YEARS in the making. Safeguards have been gutted by the Republicans (and some Dems) for the last 10 years - most notably John McCain's top advisor Sen. Phil Gramm.

Stop blaming people and look at the real issue - greed and trickle down economics do not work. It is time for something new - what have we got to lose at this point?

I have said all along that they will pull anything to put Humpty-Dumpty back together again. Humpty-Dumpty is the Democrat party that Bill shoved off the wall, Now Pelosi and all her crew can't put Humpty- Dumpty back like it was prior to Bill Clinton!

No. About 48% of our congressional members are Republicans. Did they stay behind and work through the break?

What were the Republicans doing from 2000 - 2006?

since this whole mess started when the republicans had majority of the house and senate and controlled the white house you need to rephrase your question.

but to answer no they didn't, you conservatives like to say this is a do nothing democratic congress, how is it possible to get anything done when "president"Bush veto's every bill they send his way
