At the end of the day only the Jury is and should be the deciding body!
I find it impossible to accept that a judge, any judge has the right to intercede, direct, instruct a jury, any jury as to the verdict, after due deliberations, they are to then pass. They might as well remain seated, say 'ay" and file out accordingly, as indeed is referred in the question. I.e. whats the point of a jury in the first place?
I find the law in the USA is no more than a criminal institution in itself! Deals are struck, alternative trades off are made, the accused in many instances forced into accepting totally unrelated trade offs, facing time in prison he/she should not have to do, and/or incurring, being branded a criminal without due or just cause being been first administered.
The USA Law Society and its lawyers etc are no more the bartering tradesmen and making fortunes out of and at the expense of, for the major part, members of the public who are in fact honest, decent, lawful and respected citizens.
Its the US law society itself that brands so many innocents to be otherwise.
Yes. There are criminals, vile to the extreme in every degree, and they should be addressed accordingly.
