Atalanta, what do you think?

Atalanta is a character in Greek mythology, in case you didn't know. It means 'balanced' or 'equal in weight'.

WDYT?

Do you think it is too close to Atlanta?

I'm in the UK, so if there is any others in here I don't know if being in the UK it would be different.

Update:

There is a lot more to the myth than just the beginning! The most famous part is when she challenges her suiters to race, where she would marry the winner.

Update 2:

'at-ah-LAN-tah'.

Update 3:

Alternatively, what do you think of Atalante?

I thin it's a very interesting name and quite attractive.

Names from mythology have often been used and become popular or even boring as a result, but I think I can safely say that that one is quite rare.

I'm not a fan of the name in general - i'm guessing that it's pronounced Ata-lanta, which is kind of hard to say.

For me, it too close to Atlanta and the anti-acid Mylanta. My first inclination was that you misspelled Atlanta, and since not everyone is well-read on Greek mythology, you may get a lot of that.

Like the god in Greek mythology whose father wanted a son so badly that when his daughter (Atalanta) was born he left her on the top of a mountain to die? No, I'm not really loving it...

Ah, yes, Atalanta...she of the golden apples.

Well, it certainly would be different. Consider the possible nicknames, though. People with long names usually end up with them being shortened.

I didn't think of Atlanta. I thought of Greek mythology immediately. i think it's a lovely name, as is Atalante. I'm from the US, and I think it's a wonderful choice. Thumbs up to you!

  • It is extremely close to Atlanta, I guess if you're in the UK that wouldn't matter much, but I still don't like the name.

Like Robbie said, I too thought you spelled Atlanta wrong.

Even though you are in the UK, I'm not too fond of the name...

What about Libra? It's unique, and different. She could go by Libby. (Libra means Scales, Equality)

    Good luck!

    xx
