I don't think Sublime deserves to be on here, don't get me wrong, I love the band, but they really didn't aid rock as much as reggae/ska/alternative

and come on man, Bowie should be higher...and although its not typical rock, I think Bob Dylan and morrisey maybe\

And to the guy who reccomended Green Day...what are you on? and how do i get some?...Green Day wouldnt be around had it not been for the sex pisols/buzzcocks/dead kennedy's and all the REAL punk bands that came out...

if it were up to me, Joy Division, the sex pistols and a few others would also be on here...because rock is a broad genre which branches out...(punk,alternative,metal...etc.)

Though I do like Zeppelin more than the Beatles, the Beatles definitely led the way for rock in roll! I mean, they incorporated jazz-style chord progressions into their music. In fact, they even went as far as showing country influences, which Led Zeppelin did a while after the Beatles got big.

Oh, and Whitesnake had Steve Vai as a guitarist--they should be much higher than Poison and David Bowie!

Some other mistakes on their...sorry--just had to say a few of the problems I had with your list.

Good list, you've got the idea. You've left out a few deserved bands, and i'd rate Nirvana higher than queen and metallica. But they're all worthy bands and it's personal preference... So yeah your list will probably be widely accepted on R&P.

Umm we wouldn't have had Nirvana if not for Pixies and The Vaselines. Meatpuppets too.

  • 1 decade ago

Where is The Velvet Underground on that list. Bob Dylan, Pixies....

  • normally when people make these lists, they are loaded with what i would consider garbage, but you have a nice list, very solid with the exception of a couple bands
