What is the plastic insulator used for in the car door?
I don't understand why they put the plastic insulator in the car door. It looks like you won't have any problem without it. I just replace one window regulator in my car door and throw the plastic insulator away.

it is just there to keep any water that may seep in through your window seals from getting to your door panel where your switches are located. You will not have any problems by removing it and not replacing it.Source(s): Mechanic 18 yrs experience

The sheet of plastic is used to cut down on wind drafts that find their way through the door and into the car. It also helps to hold in heat or A/C while driving down the road.
