    Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand

    It has approximately 1160 pages.

It is one of my favorite books of all time. Love it!

(I have also read War & Peace by Leo Tolstoy - I think that is actually longer - but I have no clue on the exact page count. Probably around 1300 or 1400 pages.)

(Edit - I just found this cool page on Wikipedia:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longest_novel#Ayn_Ran...

    It gives the following info:

    Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

    Published 1957. Approximately 645,000 words. 1168 pages.

    Leo Tolstoy, War and Peace

Published from 1865 to 1869. Original text has some 460,000 Russian and French words. English translation contains over 560,000 words and over 3.1 million characters; typically over 1400 pages as a paperback.

It also lists some of the other longest novels in the world - you should check it out ;)

    Queen and Roots

Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series has thick books of 1000+ pages too

Also depends on the font size and book size too

That I can think of, off the top of my head?

The uncut version of Stephen King's The Stand, 1187 pages for a single book.

For a series... The Mission Earth series by L. Ron Hubbard totaling 3992 pages and better than one million words.

It was probably, although I can't be sure, Gone With the Wind. I believe that book has 1037 pages.

**Ah! I was just reminded by Jackie Brown of "Atlas Shrugged" I love that novel. I have been saying GWTW has been the longest novel I've ever read for ten years, and it's a hard habit to break!
