My tenth year was pretty horrible, so I would be very encouraging. I'd say, "Never mind that crazy lady you have as a teacher, you'll never have another quite as bad as that again! And never mind how monstrous those little boys are behaving. Give them half a dozen years to mature (well, some will need a bit longer) and they'll begin to straighten out. Some of them will turn out to be real prizes. Don't worry about your body either. It's doing all sorts of strange things, but time will sort that out, too. It'll all be worth it in the end, and you'll have some very lovely children, who will grow up and make you so proud you'll practically burst! Just keep on reading those Russian novels and ignore the prejudice and the cracks about ethnicity and all the other small-mindedness, both in the kids and in the faculty. Once you grow up and get a half-way decent job, you can think as you like and read what you want and live next to whoever you like and nobody will be able to do a thing about it! So there! And by the way, one of these a black man really will be able to run for president, and so will a woman, so thumb your nose at those naysayers (behind their backs, though, since they're all bigger than you)."
Oh, it's life, baby, it's glorious, wonderful life!
