    CH3C=OCH3 + PhC=OH ----> CH3C=OCH2C*H(OH)Ph; C* is asymmetric

    CH3C=OCH3 + CH3C=OPh ---> CH3C=OCH2C*CH3(OH)Ph + CH3C*CH3(OH)CH2C=OPh

    C* is asymmetric
