When you say a 12 inch balloon, I'm assuming you mean that it is 12 inches across, so that its radius is 6 inches.
The units of volume are cubic whatevers so you want the volume of your balloon in cubic feet.
The easiest way to do that is to first convert all measurements to feet before applying the formula for the volume of a sphere which is:
V (sphere) = 4/3 pi r^3
12 inches = 1 foot and 6 inches is 0.5 feet so substitute 0.5 as the radius (r) in the formula as follows:
V(sphere) = 4/3 x 3.14 x 0.5^3
V(sphere) = 0.52 cubic feet (to 2 decimal places)
If you meant that the radius of the balloon is 12 inches, then substitute 1 for the radius, do the calculation and your answer will be 4.2 cubic feet (to 1 decimal place)
