I'm going to London and Dublin in a few months, and would like to buy a pair of boots that are:

A) Comfortable

B) able to handle wet/cold/icy weather

C) not overly bulky

D) cute as hell

Any recommendations?

Update:

There's not much point suggesting a particular style or make, cause it has to suit your foot and your taste. However, some suggestions:

Think about socks; if you have some warm, comfy socks, whatever boots you buy will be warmer and more comfortable as well.

Look for boots with a Goretex, or other waterproof membrane, or leather boots. Treatments on boots don't last well if they're repeatedly and continuously wet. However, if you do get leather boots, there are numerous companies selling waterproof sprays for shoes now. Buy it in UK, cos you won't be allowed to take it on the plane, since it's an aerosol.

You can also get goretex socks and another brand called "seal skins." To save money, I'd suggest you buy some of the ultra light seal skins socks and wear them over your regular socks. Just buy some merino wool socks to wear underneath: they're about half the price of seal skins. Then put the waterproof socks over the top.

    Here's some links:

http://www.superfeet.com/products/HotPINK.aspx (cold weather insoles to keep feet warmer).

http://www.sealskinz.com/cgi-bin/psProdSrch.cgi (waterproof socks, sold in UK stores).

shoes.com or shoes.co.uk (can search here for all manner of boots. Include waterproof in the search bar and you'll only get waterproof boots. Some aren't very cute though...) here's the waterproof ones...

http://www.shoes.com/shopping/results.aspx?N=42949... (everything from patent leather Italian boots to rain boots, so check every page...)

If you prefer to shop b4 you go, check out the end of winter sales in your city for shoes. Look for something comfortable, lightweight, without too much mesh or stitching (lets in cold and wet). Also check the soles.

If you find a cute, comfy pair of shoes you love that aren't waterproof, buy the waterproof socks or similar.

If the soles don't look all that grippy, but you love the shoes, you could also look at getting a pair of overshoes. They slip over your shoes and can be removed when you get somewhere dry (pub, gallery, guinness factory...), but don't look great.

Ideally, look for grip and comfort first, in leather or something relatively quick drying (or waterproof membrane). If it's not warm enough, you can get warmer socks or even some insulated insoles. If it's not dry enough, you can get waterproof sock liners.

If worst comes to worst and you can't find the perfect shoes in time, get something on sale that's ok and look there: London is bound to have shoes that fit the bill, just budget for the pound!

    Here's some London possibilities:

    Top Shop http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/C...

    Faith shoes http://www.faith.co.uk/productlist.aspx?cid=calf_b...

    Swear http://www.swear-london.com/view.aspx?tree=64

    Office http://www.office.co.uk/womens

    fly London http://www.flylondon.com/

Obviously, this is a very small and eclectic selection, just to reassure you that there are plenty of options to buy in UK, as long as you have shoes and socks to last a few days.

Hope this is helpful, GOOD LUCK! :)

For London and Dublin you do not need boots!

The weather will be above freezing, not real cold.

You can expect rain, yes, but there is good paving and little problems with water drainage, so your feet will not get wet.

If you want to walk around in the fashionable boots, buy them when in London or Dublin, what you buy before leaving home may well be out of fashion there.

You will find most Europeans will walk around in shoes, not boots, also because shoes are more comfy for normal walking.

once you would be doing multiple on/off practice style vacationing, i think of you would be greater advantageous off with a back %.. That way you have the two palms loose. Winters are very easy right here even nevertheless i'm from a chilly climate in the States (northern ny). think of of NYC in wintry climate if that enables as a connection with the style of temps you're able to anticipate to discover right here, many times talking, understanding that the further south you pass the hotter it is going to likely be. The suggestion of procuring for a coat as quickly as you're right it particularly is an staggering one. That way you're able to provide it away as quickly as you're carried out vacationing. Have good boots with you which of them are already broken in, and do not forget a wool cap. whilst it is composed of heat temperature, style is going out the window!
