Do I need a Master's or Ph.D in GIS?

Hey everyone. I'm interested in the field of GIS. Do I need a master's or Ph.D to be able to get a decent job? If not, what can I expect to do on the job or what are some examples of careers? Thanks!

mostly you will end up working for a governmental agency of some sort or other. There are some big companies (maybe utilities and oil companies) that would be a possible job path

a Bachelors is probably good for the entry level, masters better, and going in with a PhD may actually work against you: they may feel that you will want too much $$$..

With the PhD you could probably get a tenure-track position at a university
