    Sustained growth of global economies after World War II resulted in increased international trade.

    Sustained = 過去分詞形容 growth

    Sustained growth of global economies after World War II = 主詞

    Resulted = 不及物動詞

    Increased = 過去分詞形容 international trade.

    Increased international trade = 主詞補語

    S + V + C 主詞 + 動詞 + 補語

    Sustained = 過去分詞當形容詞形容 growth

    Increased =過去分詞當形容詞形容 international trade.

    分詞構句分現在分詞&過去分詞.

    現在分詞分詞構句例子:

    Encountering problems, he always turns to his father.

    = When he encounters problems, he always turns to his father.

    過去分詞分詞構句例子:

    Buried alive, the criminal has no chance of survival.

    = The criminal is buried alive and has no chance of survival.

    This sentence is accurate.

    result in = cause

    Her death resulted in a change in policy.

    The outbreak resulted in dozens of death.

    By the way, thanks to "eleven" for adding the explanation in Chinese.

    "increased international trade" is accurate word usage.

    For example:

    Delayed enrollment in hospice can result in increased depression among family members after the death of their loved one, according to a study by Yale researchers.

    By the way, the sentence can also be rewritten as:

    Sustained growth of global economies after World War II resulted in increase in international trade. (increase acts as a noun in this sentence).

    However, the sentence is not as well written with the close positions of the two "in's".

    Hi, Eleven

    If you simplify the sentence and look at it this way, you will see that the grammar is accurate.

    Sustained growth of global economy

    resulted in

    increased international trade.

    For news headline, what you see usually omitted are things like:

    Novelist David Foster Wallace (was) found dead

    All-Star 3B Evan Longoria (was) back in lineup for Rays.

    was - omitted in news headline

    2008-09-14 17:43:53 補充:

    In the sentence provided by the asker, I did not see any word omitted from the sentence that will make the sentence inaccurate from grammar standpoint.

    Source(s): Myself. Went abroad at age 11. With over 32 years of experience speaking and writing English. Tutored English as an Undergrad. A project manager in the US since 1992.

    簡單解釋。

    過去分詞可以當動詞(用於完成式)、形成被動句、

    用來當形容詞以修飾名詞,也能形成分詞構句。

    當它用來形成分詞構句時,

    往往是沒有主詞的幾個字所組成的詞組,

    用來修飾整句中真正的主詞。

    當它只是單純的形容詞時,

    通常前或後一個字就是它所修飾的主詞或一群名詞詞組。

    但,我覺得這句中的 resulted in increased international trade

    感覺好像有錯,

    可是我最近比較少看這類文章有點不確定,

    看回覆您的朋友有沒有相同感受吧!

    若真有錯相信她看得出來的!

    我覺得有問題的是在 increased international trade

    嗯,不多說。

    我所學的文法分析方式顯然和回答者很不一樣。

    有機會再去請教我的老師吧!

    不過,據知多數台灣教師對這類問題的分析法

    和我所學的比較接近。

    只能說若原問者是學生,

    最好還是親自問教師學教師所教的那一套,

    而同一句文法分析不同英美文法專家看法會不一樣,

    初學者較適合聽從自己教師的教法,

    研究生等級者再去多看書多比較後建立自己的體系。

    其實後來再仔細想,

    這句有問題的地方可能有二處。 XD

    若我記得問某高人再說吧!!

    只是個人近期很忙應該不會在期限前回答。

    或者,若有跟我有相同看法者願意仔細解答也很好!!

    不過,它很可能是新聞中的句子,

    新聞中本來來就常常省略一些詞,

    只要它前後句上下文和整篇文章夠好,

    仍是可拿來參考,

    但不建議初學者把它拿來一句句要人分析就是了。
