Before Abraham and Ishmael, what Deities were worshipped in Islamic countries? ?
Was Allah always the God of choice or were there others?
I mean no disrespect for the Islamic faith, I am just curious.

As there are no Pre Ismaelite Arab Countries I will refer to pre-Islamic pagan practices. Traditionally Ishmael was the founder of the arabs(circa 1820 BC.) on the Saudi penninsula and Mohammed was the founder of Islam in 622 AD.
In Old Testament times, Nabonidus (555-539 BC), the last king of Babylon, built Tayma, Arabia as a center of Moon-god worship. Segall stated, "South Arabia's stellar religion has always been dominated by the Moon-god in various variations." Many scholars have also noticed that the Moon-god's name "Sin" is a part of such Arabic words as "Sinai," the "wilderness of Sin," etc. When the popularity of the Moon-god waned elsewhere, the Arabs remained true to their conviction that the Moon-god was the greatest of all gods. While they worshipped 360 gods at the Kabah in Mecca, the Moon-god was the chief deity. Mecca was in fact built as a shrine for the Moon-god.
This is what made it the most sacred site of Arabian paganism. In 1944, G. Caton Thompson revealed in her book, The Tombs and Moon Temple of Hureidha, that she had uncovered a temple of the Moon-god in southern Arabia. The symbols of the crescent moon and no less than twenty-one inscriptions with the name Sin were found in this temple. An idol which may be the Moon-god himself was also discovered. This was later confirmed by other well-known archeologists.
Mohammed removed all the other 360 Gods and installed Allah as the Chief God and made the Moon the symbol of Islam along with the sword.

Ellah, not Allah was a god of the crescent moon. He and about 350 others were adored by the pagans there. Ishmael was not the father of Islam, Mohamed was. Mohammed lived many generations after Ishmael. There is no archeology that has connected Ishmael to the Arabs. Mo hammed destroyed all the idols in Mecca, leaving only the black stone standing,That mosque is still in Saudi Arabia, and is holy to them.

Allah came along as an alternative religion many years after the worship of the one true God. Abraham and Ishmael were not nor haver they ever been dieties. Ishmael was an illigitemate son of Abraham with his wife's handmaiden, Hagar, who were both (Hagar & Ishmael) banished from Abraham's family (That's one of the reasons there is a conflict between the two religions today, and one reason the false religion recognizing Ishmael as it's head was born in conflict to Abraham's first 12 sons

Islam did not come into being until way after the time of Christ. Before Ishmael, there weren't even any Arabs, since he was the father of that nation.

In Genesis 14, Abram is blessed by Melchizedek the king of Salem, that Abram and other kings have just conquered. Melchizedek was also the High Priest of the "Most High God" of the Canaanite pantheon (El Elyon). Abraham assimilates the attributes of this god into his own. The God in Genesis creation story, is called Elohim. The Elohim are the sons of El in the Canaanite pantheon. They were ruled by El Elyon (God Most High), and later by Hadad the rain god, who is generally the god referred to by the title Baal (Lord). The enemy of the Elohim is Yam (the sea), a chaos monster slain by Baal. This might have been derived from the Sumerian creation epic Enuma Elish, in which the god Marduk battles the great dragon Tiamat (the waters of chaos, and mother of the gods) and divides her body to create the heaven and the earth. In Genesis 1, God's Spirit moves upon the face of the waters (verse 2) and then divides them (verses 6-7). Marduk hangs up his bow after his victory over Tiamat, much as God does in Genesis 9:13 after the Flood.
