Depends on the girl. She might like Meredith Pierce's Fantasy books about strong young women. Or Jacqueline Wilson for gritty realism. Or the early Jane Austen for romance - and irony. I like Laurie Halse Anderson. And Stephenie Meyer, of course, so she can talk about her reading with her friends. Or ask your local librarian. They'll know what's popular in your area and for your reading tastes.
I like the Twilight series. It's really interesting. I'm also 14, and I am reading the last book right now. They are quite long, but so good. They are about a vampire. It sounds dumb, but it is so good!
