This is a very good question and the answers of many of the Obama supporters shows the lack of education and understanding of what Obama is proposing.

Why do you think that Obama makes it a point to tell you he is only going to raise "income tax" on the rich. The government taxes us with more taxes than just our income!!!!!!!!!!!

Obama said in his speech he wants a tax code that rewards work and not wealth.

LAST TIME I CHECKED I WORK TO CREATE A LITTLE WEALTH.

CAPITAL GAINS

A capital gain is a profit that results from the sale or exchange of a capital asset; such as "stocks", "bonds", or "real estate" which exceeds the purchase price. On the other hand a capital loss arises if the sale proceeds of a capital asset are less than the purchase price.

Obama said in his speech he will raise taxes on Capital Gains. Many Americans savings are in stocks, bonds, and real estate. Good luck when you sell your house... Obama thinks the government deserves a big cut as well.

OVERTAZING BUSINESSES

This hurts unemployment rates... when businesses lose money, they cut people. This hurts all Americans.

There's more but yahoo has a limit... as Americans we need to study what is said... NOT HOW IT IS SAID.

Obama is a wonderful speaker but is preaching the same Liberal message of the last 20 years!

Perhaps the greatest example of socialism is in the Christian bible. In acts soon after the "church" (a group of people who shared the same values) was formed everyone sold everything they had and put it in the same pot. Then the 'wise' leaders used the money to feed, clothe, heal etc. the community.

The only way this worked...people of like mind. They were families with on common goal. That was to further the gospel.

Wealth redistribution and socialism are not that far separated. I'm sure they understand the term, they just prefer not to use it as it carries a negative connotation preferably avoided during election years.

Do you realize that Blue (Democrat) states contribute more in taxes and use less in federal spending; whereas Red (Republican) states pay less in taxes and use more in federal spending? "Socialism" exists now in this country, to the great benefit of Republican states.

One of the best examples that demonstrate the benefits of socialism is the American highway system. We all chip in to pay for it at the pump. Rather painless isn’t it? I imagine national medicine would be much the same.

If capitalism worked as well as some will have us believe, it would work equally well for the poor too. But as we all know, it fails the disenfranchised miserably.
