If you buy a stock during after hours trading on the day before it goes ex-dividend, do you get the dividend?

    No. These after hours trades used to be known as EB (early bargain) That is early for the following day. Having said that if you bought a SETs stock in the auction between 16.30 and 16.35 (LSE) then perhaps that would be still *** Div

    Yes. If the shares you bought are not marked ex-dividend on the contract note, they are entitled to the div.

    - But put the div. in the bank, before you spend it.

    After hours is usually booked or marked as trading on the following day.

    I believe you have to own the stock for at least a month.

    No. You would not be the owner of the stock until sometime the same day.
