Would Obama replace the US Navy's nuclear powered fleet with wind and solar powered vessels?

Are we going to go backwards as a nation?

Obama's energy plan is just sunshine and hot air.

Russia, China and Iran are not building wind turbines and solar farms; they are only interested in nuclear and carbon based energy.

I think every form of energy has its use. Nuclear is great for submarines, because it is long-lasting, and doesn't need air for combustion. A submarine can decompose water into usable oxygen for breathing, and stay under for months, maybe years, if need be. That doesn't mean that a nuclear reactor is the best idea for every person's house. Solar is wonderful for this sort of thing, both to heat water, and generate electricity. It's not cost-effective for everyone now, but the idea of both candidates is that solar would be encouraged by incentives. Obama's support of solar is somewhat easier to believe, as he's no friend of Big Oil. As far as China not being interested in solar, I've heard quite the opposite. They're hungry for all forms of energy, solar included. At the Olympics, panels from one of their domestic manufacturers, Suntech, powered some of the displays.

    1. Yes

    2. Yes,but don't forget the smoke and mirrors.

    3. They are using the nuclear energy as a cover to develop nuclear weapons and the carbon based energy to make it harder for the U.S. to build up oil reserves.

To replace the nuclear powered fleet would be stupid since they are designed to go about 13 years before the nuclear fuel has to be changed.

So should model ourselves after China, Iran, and Russia? Maybe adopt radical Islam or Communism while we are at it.. Seems to work well for them.

The fact is that Nuclear Energy, while better than it was, still produces tons of toxic waste. We can store it in your back yard if you'd like. You won't have to worry mowing the grass for 12,000 years. And carbon based fuels are going to run out, and cause global warming (even the republicans are admitting to climate change)

Maybe we should go back to whaling for oil next?

Our only option for energy Independence an growth, long term is alternative energy. Wind / solar are part, but so is natural gas and coal for the near term. The point is that we have allowed our addiction to oil to seriously jeopardize our national security. We borrow money from china (yes we are in debt to them) and we transfer it to Saudi Arabia. the danger isn't some crazy guy with a bomb in its shoe, its the trillions of dollars we owe in debt, devaluing our currency (one of the other reason gas prices are so high) It just doesn't make as good of headlines on Fox news.

I think Mc Cain might use those nuclear war ship arm with NUKE and good know which country the moody old man will target first...And after that, US Navy's nuclear powered will fleet with wind and solar powered or just use couple sail..

Of course not. As far as Russia and China and wind are concerned, I did a quick check and both countries have huge potential for wind, and have been investing in it for several years, and are also involved in solar. So, basically you have no idea what you are talking about.

LMAO! Flying off the handle a bit aren't we?

Obama supports the use of alternative energy sources that power all of our homes, businesses, and personal vehicles. I don't think it's on his agenda to replace what equipment our Military forces use.

But he is all about a plan that will reduce the use of military personell and equipment if you get my drift.

Actually, China is HEAVILY investing in alternative energy. More then America.

Solar and wind if part of the solution, no one said it was going to solve everything.

In contrast, the Republicans have done nothing for this country to make us energy independent, they only made us MORE addicted to oil.

It's amazing that you see Obama walking and talking and you can't even see George Soros hand pulling the strings. It's the miracle of modern TV.
