What does it mean when someone's eyes "glaze over"?

A "glaze", as far as I know, is a shiny surface you might put to food (i.e. donuts) or pottery. When someone says that someone's "eyes glazed over", does that mean that their eyes have a film of liquid that are covering them?

Yes I guess so, but it is just a way of saying that they stopped paying attention and went into their "own world"

If your eyes glaze over, they become dull and lose all expression, usually because you are bored or are thinking about something else.

ex...He has to remain alert for the movie actors whose eyes glaze over as soon as the subject wavers from themselves.

It means the way a person's eyes look when they've lost all interest in the conversation, have become bored and mentally 'switched off." The eyes actually go slightly out of focus as they are not listening to you any more. In other words, the Average Husband!
