how comes in the olympics its GB team....?

but in football its scotland england ireland?

    Because in football each nation has a governing body that is recognized by FIFA. With olympics the IOC only recognizes the British Olympic committee despite scotland recently launching its bit for separate representation. Its probably interesting to point out that cyclist Chris Hoy (Scottish triple gold medal winner) is opposed to the separation of the UK team.

    because in the olympics we compete as a whole country - england, ireland, scotland, wales all together. for some reason scotland wales and ireland want independance when it comes to football...
