Books that were made into movies?

I'm looking for some good books that were made into movies? For example, I just finished reading "Atonement".

Well obviously Pride and Pejudice and anything else by Jane Austin.

I Captured the Castle, can't remember who wrote that, but the movie was good enough...

Try some of the oldies, those are always nice. And there are many adaptations of them!

James and the Giant Peach. Childish, but it's been one of my favorties for a long time!

    Princess Bride

The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe

    Stardust

Lord of the Rings (I've heard they did a good job)

I tend to avoid movies from books on theory, since they very often aren't that close to the original. These I think they did all right on.
