Why can't US Supreme Court justices be appointed by the House Minority Leader instead of the president?
That would be a great amendment to the Constitution and would clarify that the position of a Court Justice MUST be chosen not with regard to political viewpoints.
Therefore as long as it doesn't matter that the minority party appoints justices, it brings out that the justices must be unbiased.
Of course the MAJORITY in Congress can impeach the Justices and the Majority in Congress can deny an appointed justice from getting approved.
We can do this by allowing the President to Veto the Minority Party's appointment of any new Court Justice and force the Congress to require a larger majority to override the veto.
