US News and World report provides a ranking for US Colleges annually. (The ranking can be different depending on whether you are considering going to undergraduate school or looking for a graduate degree. Some fine undergraduate schools would not appear on the list below because they do not give doctoral degrees e.g. Rose-Hulman Institute and Harvey-Mudd College.) The link below gives you the most recent rankings for Civil Engineering Grad Schools. All of these schools are a safe bet for an outstanding undergrad education as well. The link lists many more schools further down the list. The top 10 on the list are:

    1) MIT

    2) Stanford

    3) UC Berkeley

    4) Georgia Institute of Technology

    5) University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

    6) Caltech

    7) Carnegie Mellon

    8) USC

    9) Cornell

    10) University of Michigan Ann Arbor.
