    The 2 obvious differences between French & Russian...the alphabet, and much less overlap in the vocabulary.

    Ex.

    Doctor = french docteur/russian vrach

    blue=bleu/sinii

    table=table/stol

    room - chambre (chamber)/komnata

    etc etc etc

    In comparison with English and French, Russian is much more inflected. You will need to learn many more cases, and the appropriate endings for the various genders and numbers.

    If you like French you'll enjoy Russian too. Good luck!
