    If you stretch this into the two different concept cars, the first one was built in 1962 called the Mustang I. Public didn't like it much so Ford built the Mustang II in 1963 that closely resembled the production model. The first production mustang was built in 1964.

    The first Mustang rolled off the assembly line in Dearborn, Michigan on March 9 1964. am not sure about the record but it did sell over 1 million mustangs in the first 18 months

    1964 1/2 was the first mustang.
