Chechnya is a region in southern Russia that wants to be independent. The Russian don't want to let them go. No one has "won" - they are still killing each other. The Chechens have started resorting to terrorist activities like bombing public sites in Moscow, although it's been a while since one has happened.

No one is willing to budge, so this could go on for a long, long time.

The Chechens (Muslims) claim that Russia was brutalizing them, so they united into rebel bands.

    In short: Chechens=terrorists.
